Relationship Reflection

My current and past are very important to me. I have many family members, close friends, co-workers, and pets that affect my life and work in a positive manner. These relationships continue to shape me as a person, and make me better.

1) My Family: My immediate family consists of my Mother, Father, and younger sister. My parents have been married for 36 years, and love each other just as much now than when they first met. They have always been positive role models for me to look up to, and raised me in a way that allowed me to learn from my own mistakes, knowing that they would always be there to help me no matter what. My sister is four years younger, and even though we don’t always see eye to eye, we are always there for each other.

2) My close friends: I have a group of girl friends that are very important to me. We have been friends for about ten years, and each is special to me in their own way. As we have gotten older, it has sometimes been a challenge to keep in touch. Most have gotten married and started their own families, which makes scheduling difficult. However, we have the type of relationship that no matter how long we go without talking or seeing each other, the day we do it’s like no time has passed and we pick up right where we left off.

3) My Pets: Growing up, I have always had at least one pet. These animals were a part of the family, and helped me through some tough times. I find the unconditional love of a pet to be so comforting. They don’t ask questions, they don’t judge, and they are there for you no matter what. Right now I have a dog, cat, and rat. I got the rat as a class pet for my students, and they love her! It is a great way to teach compassion and responsibility.
